grand format overhead hanging display

Grand format overhead hanging displays are the largest overhead branded solution in our range, perfect for any exhibition, trade show, conference or retail space where a standard hanging sign runs out of room.

Available in square and rectangular shapes across numerous sizes and two drop heights, the modular frame assembles by hand with no tools and turns the empty volume above your stand into a branded beacon that hovers over your competitors whilst maximising the overhead space above your event space — without taking a single square metre off the floor.

The dye-sublimated fabric skin delivers saturated, glare-free colour and is simply re-printed when the campaign changes, so the frame is used again and again. Printed in New Zealand on demand from your supplied artwork ensures you have full control of delivery, quality, and ongoing product support. With free overnight colour physical proofing available you can be sure to get it on-brand every time.

With the largest portable display & exhibition product range available nationally and the only local manufacturer with the ability to print 3.2m wide with no seam on multiple machines, why would you talk to anyone else.

Grand Format Overhead Hanging Displays

When the stand next door is fighting for attention at eye level, the smartest move is to go up. Our grand format overhead hanging displays turn the empty volume above your client's stand into the largest, most visible branded surface in the room — seen from the entry doors, the mezzanine and every aisle in between.

Built from a modular, tool-free aluminium frame and skinned in dye-sublimated fabric printed here in New Zealand, these structures scale well beyond standard hanging signage without the weight, cost or build time of a fabricated structure.

The most under-used real estate at any exhibition

Floor space is expensive, contested and full of people. The four to six metres above it is usually empty.

Grand format overhead structures work because they do the job that walls and counters can't:

  • Wayfinding from a distance. Visitors locate the stand from anywhere on the floor before they can read a single wall graphic.
  • Presence without footprint. Branding moves overhead, so the floor stays open for product, demonstrations and conversations.
  • A defined room within a room. A large suspended form draws a ceiling over the stand and gives the space its own identity, without blocking sightlines.
  • Photography and coverage. Overhead structures dominate wide shots — the images that end up in event recaps, media coverage and social posts.

The same logic applies well beyond the show floor: retail atriums, foyers, conference plenaries, airports, showrooms and any tall interior space where the ceiling is doing nothing.

Modular, tool-free frame

The frame is a single-tube aluminium system that assembles by hand. No tools, no loose fixings, no specialist crew.

  • Push-button and captive-pin connections — segments locate positively and lock in place, so assembly is intuitive and repeatable.
  • Numbered, colour-matched components so the same structure goes up the same way every time, by different people, in different cities.
  • Genuinely modular. A single set of components counts out into any square or rectangular footprint in the range, and is reconfigured later into another size rather than being scrapped.
  • Grand format scale. Segmented spans reach just under ten metres in length without moving to a fabricated structure.
  • Light on the rigging. Aluminium and fabric keep total structure weight low, which simplifies venue rigging approvals, reduces point loads and cuts installation cost.

Every structure is supplied with a rigging kit, load and weight documentation, and a component list to support venue sign-off. Hanging point layouts are set at design stage against the venue's rigging rules.

Square and rectangular sizes

With numerous sizes to choose from, there is bound to be a suitable option to bring your stand to life.

Squares sit centrally over an island or peninsula stand and read identically from all four aisles. Rectangles follow the long axis of a linear stand, holding a full brand lockup or strapline without wrapping, and hang cleanly over an in-line frontage or retail run.

Every footprint comes in two drops — a shallower drop for lower ceilings, retail interiors and venues with tight rigging heights, and a deeper drop for close to double the graphic area and a stronger sense of enclosure over the stand. Both fall inside our 3.2m seamless print width, so the graphic runs the full drop with no horizontal seam.

Tell us the stand size and the hall, and we'll nominate the footprint and drop that fit. Full size schedule and artwork templates are available on request, and sizes outside the standard range are made to order.

Dye-sublimated fabric graphics

The skin is where the structure earns its keep.

Graphics are printed by dye-sublimation, where the ink is gassed into the fibre rather than sitting on the surface. The result is saturated, high-resolution colour with a soft matte finish that reads cleanly under harsh exhibition lighting — no glare, no hotspots, no laminate sheen.

  • Seamless at scale. We are the only local manufacturer printing 3.2m wide with no seam, across multiple machines. Both grand format drops print inside that width, so joins are engineered into the form rather than dropped where the printer ran out of width.
  • Pillowcase and SEG options. Slip-on pillowcase skins for fast, tool-free changeover; silicone edge graphics where a tight, dead-flat tension is required.
  • Crease-recovering and washable. Fabric hangs flat and can be laundered between shows — a practical advantage over rigid and printed vinyl alternatives.
  • Re-skin, don't rebuild. Campaign changed? Sponsor changed? Print a new skin and keep the frame. One structure supports years of messaging.
  • Print both sides. Inner and outer surfaces can carry different artwork, so the structure works as hard for people standing under it as for those approaching it.

Fabrics are selected per application, including options with the fire certification required for public and exhibition venues, and lightweight backlit-capable substrates where the structure is to be internally lit.

Made here, supplied on demand

We print, cut, sew and finish in New Zealand. That is not a patriotic footnote — it is the reason our trade partners win work.

  • Lead times measured against local deadlines, not offshore shipping schedules and customs clearance.
  • On-demand supply. Skins are produced when the job is confirmed, so nobody carries dead stock of last season's artwork.
  • Late changes absorbed. Artwork approved on Thursday can still be on the floor for a Monday bump-in.
  • Free overnight physical colour proofing, so the brand is signed off on real fabric before the full skin is printed.
  • Replacement, not write-off. A damaged panel is reprinted here, not re-ordered from another hemisphere.
  • One point of accountability. Vertically integrated production means print, finishing and hardware come from the same team, colour-matched across every element of the stand.

Textiles Alive supplies trade only. We do not approach your clients, we do not compete with you, and your brand stays on the job.

Designed as part of the whole stand

An overhead structure works best when it is designed with what sits beneath it. Grand format hanging displays pair with our fabric tension walls, backlit lightboxes, counters, plinths and portable display systems, printed together for consistent colour and finish across the entire execution.

Send us a stand concept, a floor plan or a rough sketch. We'll work back through form, span, rigging points and print layout, and return a solution that is buildable, installable and on budget.
